The town of Wattens is located 17km east of Innsbruck, nestled between the Limestone Alps in the north and the central Alps in the south. The municipality extends over 10.87 square km and has 8118 inhabitants (as of 6/23/08).
Wattens is worldwide known as the birthplace of the Swarovski Group and the oldest paper industry in Austria. In these three industries (Swarovski factory I and II and Wattenspapier), as well as in numerous commercial and business establishments, around 5,500 people from Wattens work.
Wattens is also the home of musicians and singers, top athletes and about 70 different clubs.
