Wattens has a geological feature: the Kreuzbichl - now completely populated hills, actually rising from the flat Inn valley. The traditional name of this ''superior'' local part involved a cross that had to have been there earlier. In 1959, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Tyrolean struggle for freedom, the town of Wattens build again a large illuminated cross that shines on holidays widely. A trip there is worthwhile, because it gives a beautiful and a pleasant view of the Kingdom of the Inn Valley at the west.
