Swarovski Company

When Daniel Swarovski looked around in Tyrol for a suitable property for its planned gemstone grinding factory, in 1895, he chose the old Loden factory of the company Rhomberg in the south of Wattens. The main reason for his decision was the right on the river flowing past Wattens, which gave him the energy he needed in the form of water power, and cooling water for its grinders. In 1900, Daniel Swarovski bought the site of the present second factory and expanded it in the following years. To optimize the energy supply, a power station was built later in Watten. Today, the ultra-modern production of synthetic gemstone and the whole operating range is located on this site.
